Doula Referrals

What Pomelo doula clients get

Support for clients and their baby

Our doulas are here for clients and their babies every step of the way–from pregnancy through postpartum.

Care clients can count on

Our doulas get to know what matters most: your members or patients. They’ll be matched with a doula who supports their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum goals through communication and hands-on care.

Customized care from anywhere

Clients can schedule in-person or virtual visits with their doula. They can communicate with doulas via text, email or phone call between sessions.

Support when clients need it most

Doulas will be there to support clients during labor and delivery, either in-person or virtually.

FAQs

Who is eligible?
Pomelo doula support is offered as a benefit through participating employers and health plans. Members should check with their health plan for eligibility criteria.

What is a doula?
A doula is a trained non-medical professional who provides physical, emotional, and educational support to a person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Think of a doula as a "personal coach" or "birth companion." While doctors and midwives focus on the medical safety of the mother and baby, a doula focuses entirely on your comfort, your preferences, and your mental well-being. Doulas do not provide babysitting services or overnight support.

How does Pomelo’s doulas partner with in-person OB/GYN during pregnancy and postpartum?
Pomelo doulas won’t replace in-person providers, but are here for support and education during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They can also help communicate with in-person OB/GYN or midwives during labor and delivery.

How much will it cost?
Check with your employer or health plan for cost specifics.

Is this program available in Spanish?
Yes, the Pomelo Care team includes a number of bilingual English/Spanish speakers. Services are also available in select additional languages. Clients can contact us and let us know their language preferences.
